would you pray with us?!

Psalm 13

How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?  How long will you hide your face from me?

2 How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,

4 lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.

5 But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

6 I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.”

This Psalm resonates with us deeply. We wanted to ask for specific prayer for my sweet Mark. We are desperate to see the Lord continue to answer more prayer. I asked Mark last night if it was okay to get real honest on this blog and share deep request for the broad public. He said, “Yes, we need the Church to pray!” So thought of these verses because we feel what the psalmist was saying and how deeply troubled he was. Waiting for the Lord to intervene is hard and such a need for the Lord to move this mountain for us. We shared with our Gospel Community Group last night and they were so gracious and encouraging to us. We think it would be good for more to know how to pray.

Would you pray? Would you be willing? I know already that many (thousands) have prayed already. But would you be willing to pray more? We pray to our God through Jesus Christ, who LOVES to hear his children cry out to Him. How would this not glorify God more? To see many saints pray on behalf of my husband! Oh our desire is for the Lord to be glorified through this suffering of cancer. And dear friends, my husband is suffering a lot.

Here’s some ways to pray:

  • Pray that Mark would be able to read again. This has been an on-going struggle this past year, yet recently seems that it has gotten worse. We are not sure why? We are thinking it is because of his chemo treatment is weakening his body and making him feel like he is in a ‘fog’ and with that reading and speaking has become very difficult. It varies from day to day and even from the time of the day. He wants to be able to function normal and have good conversations with people and read the Bible and remember what he has read. He wants to be clear in teaching his children and loving other brothers who are fighting hard against sin. He wants to share of the Lord’s faithfulness from his own lips!
  • Please pray for strength of the Holy Spirit by making Mark strong in the Lord through his weaknesses and disabilities. Pray for the Holy Spirit to continue to use him to advance His kingdom. Pray that Mark would not become quite even if he feels at times he is unclear with his words. Pray this would not stop him in sharing the good news of Jesus.
  • Pray for salvation for our children and extended family and friends. Pray the Lord to save MANY through the testimony of Mark & the Lord’s faithfulness. Mark still is believing the Lord is good. He is still trusting that the Lord gives blessings and is still good to take blessings away. Pray this suffering would be used to advance to Gospel of Jesus!
  • Please pray this cancer tumor in Mark’s brain will NOT be growing or ever grow again. Pray for FULL healing! (next MRI is the first week of December.)
  • Pray that Mark would be able to share the Gospel to His children’s children one day. Pray for decades of long quality of life to advance the Gospel and walk and lead me through this hard life.
  • Pray we would be abounding in Jesus through this trial! (Philippians 4:11-14)  And trust the Lord whatever His will is!
  • And please pray for me. I want and long to be a support and encouragement to my man. Especially through this recent decline in his abilities to read and speak. Pray the Lord to grant me a heart of thankfulness in Jesus, despite what our circumstances are. Pray I would believe the Gospel and not despair life.  Pray the Lord to keep us both in His Word & in prayer. Pray we would show Jesus to our children through this difficult time as a family.
  • Finally, pray we will trust the Lord know matter what He ordains to come!  Psalm 46!  Pray we will be submissive to God as Jesus showed true humility and submission to Him.  We have not suffered in comparison to the suffering Christ did for our behalf! Praise be to God for our Perfect Savior and King!

Thank you dear friends and family for praying!  We have hope because of Jesus. The reason He alone is still good is because He has given my husband and I underserving grace through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our Savior is at work and is working this together for our good and His glory. Pray we would trust Him and hope against hope that Jesus will be seen clearly as good and faithful to His children.  We have hope because we know Jesus is with us and is leading us all the way home to glory!     Come Lord Jesus, Come!

    Mark and Anna,
My name is Stacey. I am a friend of Ali’s. We will be praying for your sweet family and every need listed. “Great is your faithfulness!” It’s such an inspiration to all of us. Psalm 34, 17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

    Isaiah 46:4
    Living Bible (TLB)
4 I will be your God through all your lifetime, yes, even when your hair is white with age. I made you and I will care for you. I will carry you along and be your Savior.
    Love you precious girl! Xxx

  12. Lydia Wagner says:

    Anna & Mark –

Aimee shared your story with me several months ago. You have been in my thoughts and prayers ever since. Thank you for speaking your heart and sharing your prayer requests. I will be praying specifically for these things. I know God is listening to you and the rest of us when we pray these things. He will answer them in His perfect way in His perfect timing.

  13. Nici says:

    Sweet Anna,
The light of Christ shines brightly from you and your family’s great faith. We rejoice with you in the miracles God has already done in your lives…Baby H, provision of needs, and months shared with Mark beyond what doctors thought possible. We lift up your family in prayer to the Great Physician, the Comforter and Healer. May you feel His Presence with you all the time and may the joy of the Lord be your strength!

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:31-39

Sending you long distance hugs, Anna.
    Nici (Aimee’s SIL)

I am so Grateful that, Aimee shared your life and story with our family. It has been such a honor to come along side your family and pray for, The Lords perfect will to be done. We just read your Post as a family and prayed for each need. The children have and will continue to pray and as a family as well, we will lift you up in daily prayer and supplication. The children hope to be able to meet Mark, you and your sweet little ones, one day. And, praise The Lord we serve a God who can do just that.
    Psalm 70

  16. Brooke says:

Praying for you both and your families! (We are friends of Piper and Ali, too.) We will pray for God’s healing touch, for Him to use this struggle for His glory, and that you would daily be given strength, endurance, comfort, and peace that can only come from the King of the universe! So grateful you both clearly have faith in the Savior that can sustain you through this, and what a testimony you are being for others, even as you are honest about your struggles and weaknesses so that His strength can shine! We will continue to pray!

  17. Stephenie says:
